H. Court Young
Court has always had a passion for writing and
computers. He worked in the computer networking and software development
business for over 20 years.
Court wrote his first book in 1987 as a tribute
to his Father and their years together in the Water Development business. Understanding
Water Rights and Conflicts offers the layman an understanding of the complex
Colorado water rights system, how problems develop because of limited supplies,
and the conflicts that arise with multiple use of a limited resource. This book
was self published, when self publishing was in its infancy in the computer
business.
"I found writing a basic book about water
and water rights was the most difficult, but rewarding project I have ever
completed." says Court, about his book.
BurgYoung Publishing, LLC
Diana and Court had been friends for a couple of
years, and talked about books and publishing during that time. Finally, they
decided to pool their talents and publish their books.
Coupling Diana's writing talent, and Court's
computer skills seemed to be a natural way to make publishing a reality for both
of them. Diana had experiences with several other publishers, that made self
publishing seem very attractive to her.
Both have decided that the writing and publishing
are the easiest part of the business. "The challenging part comes after the
book is in the author's hand." they both say. The marketing and sales of
books is essentially a people business. The more people that you know and meet,
the better your chances of selling books. The internet is a real boon to the
self publishing business.
However, both Diana and Court are very much
enjoying the business and view it as an incredible learning experience. "We
both have a heart for the many people out in the world that have a significant
contribution to make through writing, but are truly stymied by the publishing
world. We hope to help other authors new to the business, as time allows."
says Court.
Diana and Court also hope that the seeming
"immense" wall that new authors face will not deter them. Perseverance
and determination are needed any time you follow your passion, but it is worth
it.
Warmly
Diana &
Court
